Charles Geschke is an American businessman and co-founder of Adobe Systems, Inc., a software company that produces products such as Photoshop, Acrobat, and Illustrator. He was born on April 12, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio and attended the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a B.S. in Mathematics in 1961.
In 1982, Geschke and John Warnock founded Adobe Systems, Inc. and released the first version of PostScript, a page description language used in printing and typesetting. PostScript was a revolutionary technology that allowed for the creation of digital documents that could be printed on any printer.
Geschke served as Adobe's President and Chief Operating Officer from 1982 to 2000, and as Chairman of the Board from 2000 to 2017. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Apple Inc. from 1997 to 2006.
In 2006, Geschke was awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President George W. Bush. He was also inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007.
